Take the Lenten Challenge!

Take the Lenten Challenge!

Did you know that you can read all four of the gospels in 6 weeks? It’s true, and you have to read only 2 chapters each day. This Lent we hope you’ll join us and take the 2 Chapter Challenge.  To help you, we have several Lenten Reflection Groups that will be meeting all around the city. We’ll be sharing and discussing what we’ve been learning through the 2 Chapter Challenge. This challenge is for all ages. Take the challenge and join a Lenten Reflection Group near you!
Sign-ups are in the narthex.

Help Us With Our Homeless Shelter

FCC hosts the Family Shelter!
March 6th-13th, 2012
We are looking for volunteers to help host the family shelter in partnership with Mary’s Place the week of March 6th-13th. Volunteer duties include transporting the families from Mary’s Place to First Covenant, cooking dinner for up to 20 individuals, providing entertainment for the children through out the evening, sleeping overnight to provide security for the families, and preparing breakfast bags in the morning. You can volunteer for 2 hours or 3 nights! Hosting the shelter is going to take about 40 volunteers, so consider stopping by to lend a hand. Please contact Jo Portinga jo.portinga@gmail.com if you are interested or have further questions.

Joshua

This book introduces us to a wide range of topics including personal integrity, waiting on God and the sovereignty of God.  It forces us to consider culture vs. faith and
paradoxical role of war in the Bible. It should spawn some interesting conversation. This is a traditional circle Bible study, facilitated rather than taught.  Come to listen and share as we consider what God’s word has to say to us today.  We meet at 9:45 in the Chapel.  Welcome to anyone too old to be in high school.

Wednesday, PrimeTime
At 6:00 pm
Dinner and then,
a PENTATEUCH-A-THON:  def: the first five book of the Bible, often known as the “Law” combined with game show elements and teamwork taking place over 5 weeks – only at First Covenant, Seattle!

Pike-Pine in the NYT

Did you know First Covenant’s immediate neighborhood, the “Pike-Pine Corridor” was called out in the New York Times last week as being a especially great place to visit?

The Pike-Pine Corridor is Seattle’s happiest urban makeover: from a warren of shabby flats and greasy spoons to an arty but not oppressively gentrified hamlet just across the freeway from downtown.
